Sunday Preview, August 23, 2026

This Sunday at Calvary Chapel Waterford, we continue verse-by-verse through 1 Corinthians with chapter 13, where Paul shows us the “more excellent way” of love. The Corinthians were prolific in spiritual gifts, but those gifts had become a source of division because they were not being governed by love. Paul’s point is direct: without Christ’s love, even extraordinary gifts, knowledge, faith, generosity, and sacrifice amount to nothing.

We’ll look closely at what biblical love actually does. It suffers long. It is kind. It does not envy, boast, seek its own way, become easily provoked, or keep a record of wrongs. It rejoices in truth, bears, believes, hopes, and endures. And unlike the spiritual gifts we need in our present state, love never fails.

Ultimately, we learn love by looking to Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for us and calls us to love one another the same way.
